Kaiping Mines
The Kaiping Mines (1877-1912) was one of the first modern mining companies in Zhili, China. It was founded by Li Hongzhang and production began in 1881. Kaiping would merge with Luanzhou (Lanchou, Lan-chou) in 1912 to create Kailuan (Kailan) Mining Administration. Today it's called Kailuan Group.
